Connor Larson

MCCOOK, NEB. > Tennis

Connor, a senior at McCook High, defeated Pierre Verdon of Adams Central High, 6--0, 6--2, to win a consecutive Class B state title and finish his second straight unbeaten season. Playing No. 1 singles all four years, Connor finished his high school career with a 134--7 record and was all-state four years in a row.

Mackenzie O'Dore and Luke Stevenson

JOLIET, MONT. > Cross-country

Mackenzie and Luke, seniors at Joliet High, swept the Class C state titles. Mackenzie set a course record at three miles (18:51) for her third straight championship, while Luke's win (16:32) clinched the team title.

Molly Seidel

CHENEQUA, WIS. > Cross-country

Molly, a junior at University Lake School, won her third straight D-3 state title in the 4K (13:44.32) to go undefeated for the season. She broke the state 4K record three times this year, setting the current mark with a 13:42.4 course record at sectionals, the second-best time in the nation this year.

BETHEL PARK, PA. > Race Walking

Four years after having brain surgery to curb epileptic seizures, Barron, 18, was named U.S.A. Track and Field's youth athlete of the year. He had the best times of any American this year at five, 10, and 20 kilometers, breaking the U.S. junior record by more than 18 minutes at the 20K Nordic championship in Finland.

Mckenzie Shay Halstead

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA. > Softball

Mckenzie, a junior third baseman at Collins Hill High, hit three home runs in the semifinals to beat Brookwood 4--1 en route to the Eagles' second straight 5A state title. She set school records for batting average (.442), home runs (seven) and RBIs (39), and was voted Gwinnett County co--offensive player of the year.

Taariq Allen and Ben Patrick

ROXBURY, MASS. > Football

Taariq, a senior receiver and his cousin Ben, a senior running back, led The Rivers School Red Wings to their first Independent School League title. Taariq led the team in catches (38) and Ben, the league MVP, in rushing (1,777 yards).
