Emily Wold
FREEHOLD, N.J. > Field Hockey
Emily, a junior midfielder at Freehold Boro High, scored a hat trick to lead the Colonials to an overtime 3--2 victory and their first Group III state title. She was named Shore Conference player of the year, all-state and a national field hockey coaches All-America. Last spring Emily won a bronze medal with the national U-17 team at the Pan-American Youth Championship in Uruguay.
Mason Beckman
GREENVILLE, PA. > Wrestling
Mason, a senior at Reynolds High, won his weight category at the Walsh Ironman championship in Ohio for the second straight year and, three weeks later, at the Manheim Tournament in Pennsylvania for the third straight year. Wrestling at 125 pounds, he is 15--0 through Sunday. Last year Mason was the undefeated (49--0) state champion at 119 pounds.
Michole Timm
SAUK RAPIDS, MINN. > Diving
Michole, a senior at Sauk Rapids--Rice High, won her second consecutive state title in the one-meter dive, coming from behind by scoring all nines in her penultimate dive, an inward 1½ somersault. In the 5A qualifying sectionals she had a total of 492.75, the fourth-highest score in state history. She was undefeated for the season, setting seven pool and two school records.
Levell Coppage
OAK PARK, ILL. > Football
Coppage, a junior running back, led Wisconsin-Whitewater to a 31--21 win over Mount Union in the Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl and its second straight D-III title. He was named most outstanding player after rushing for a bowl-record 299 yards. Coppage, who ran for 2,107 yards in 2010, was Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference player of the year.
Lauren Prochaska
PLAIN CITY, OHIO > Basketball
Prochaska, a senior guard at Bowling Green, broke the NCAA women's Division I record of 66 consecutive free throws by going 6 for 6 from the line in the Falcons' 72--68 win over Western Kentucky on Dec. 9. A two-time Mid-American Conference player of the year, Prochaska eventually increased her streak to 70, where it ended in a Dec. 21 victory against Canisius.
A.J. Johnson
OSWEGO, ILL. > Bowling
A.J., a senior at Oswego High, bowled four perfect games in less than a month to set a single-season state record. He rolled his fourth 300 game against Plainfield East High at Parkside Lanes in Aurora to set another state record: 857 pins out of a possible 900 in a three-game series. A.J. was on the AAU Junior Olympic team that won gold in Virginia Beach in August.
