T.J. Tolbert
WAXHAW, N.C. > Basketball
T.J., a senior shooting guard at Marvin Ridge High, scored his 1,000th career point in an 80--59 win over Ardrey Kell High. Through Sunday he has a school-record 1,035 points and holds four other school marks including points in a game (33), and career free throw (95%) and three-point (50%) percentages. Last year, T.J. led the Mavericks to their first conference title.
Kayla Miracle
BLOOMINGTON, IND. > Wrestling
Kayla, a freshman at Culver Academies who wrestles in the 103-pound weight class, is the school's first female wrestler and its first of either gender to go 22--0 in the first half of the season. Through Sunday, Kayla has had 13 pins and is one of only two undefeated members of her team. She is currently ranked 13th in the state, the only female to ever make the state list.
Ricky Robertson
HERNANDO, MISS. > Track and Field
Robertson, a sophomore at Ole Miss, high-jumped 7' 5" at the Arkansas State Kickoff Klassic to break his previous indoor school record (7' 4¼") and become the only male athlete to qualify for the NCAAs after the first weekend of indoor competition. Last year Robertson won the SEC outdoor championships and was an NCAA All-America in indoor and outdoor track.
Kelly Babstock
MISSISSAUGA, ONT. > Ice Hockey
Babstock, a freshman forward at Quinnipiac, had two goals and four assists in a 9--1 win over Sacred Heart to set the school record for points (6) in a game, and season records in points (30) and assists (17). A week later, her goal in a 4--0 win over Brown set the season goals record (16). Through Sunday, Babstock led D-I NCAA freshmen in goals (20) and assists (20).
Spencer Pigot
WINDERMERE, FLA. > Auto Racing
Spencer, a Windermere Prep senior who recently signed with Andretti Autosport, won the Skip Barber National Championship with podium finishes in 12 of the series' 14 rounds, clinching the title with a win in round 13 at Road Atlanta. In 2010 he was awarded a Team USA scholarship to the Formula Ford Festival in England, where he finished fourth in the final.
Daniela Stransky
MIAMI BEACH > Equestrian
Daniela, a freshman at Miami Country Day, won the five-week Holiday Series junior jumper championship at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center, jumping 4'3" fences on her horse, Ikarus. In November she won the Atlanta Fall Classic in Conyers, Ga. Her past three years' earnings have been donated to relief in Haiti.
