Jonathan Jones

LINDEN, N.J. > Basketball

Jones, a senior forward at Kean, had a double double in each of the first 15 games of the season to lead Division III in that category; through Sunday he leads all NCAA divisions in rebounding, with 15.0 per game. Jones, who never started a game in high school, was named first-team Atlantic Region last year.

Gretchen Jaques

GLENDORA, CALIF. > Swimming

Gretchen, a senior at Glendora High, was named swimmer of the meet at the short course junior nationals with 94 points. In August she was named to the national youth team with a 26.22 in the 50-meter freestyle at nationals. Last spring she broke Janet Evans's 1988 Southern Section 200 IM record with a time of 1:57.91.

Joe Capozzoli

PENN VALLEY, PA. > Racquetball

Capozzoli, a 70-year-old club pro and retired defense contractor, won the 60-plus title at the National Masters Doubles in Fullerton, Calif., with teammate Russ Montague, 60. He won the 70-plus class at the world senior singles championships in Albuquerque in August and the national singles title in Houston last May.

Kathy (Gubba) Sheehy

SAN DIEGO > Water Polo

Sheehy, a 40-year-old water polo coach who won silver as a member of the inaugural women's Olympic water polo team in 2000, was named USA Water Polo's Master of the Year. In June she led the Old Mission Beach Athletic Club to the 20-plus title at Masters Nationals and was inducted into the USA Water Polo Hall of Fame.

Eric Czerniewski

MONTGOMERY CITY, MO. > Football

Czerniewski, a quarterback and 2010 graduate of Central Missouri, won the Harlon Hill Trophy as the Division II national player of the year after breaking the single-season passing record (5,207 yards). He led the Mules to a school-best 11 wins and set the record in career passing yards (12,847), the fourth highest in D-II history.

Stormi Kelley

BINGER, OKLA. > Fast-pitch Softball

Stormi, a junior catcher at Binger-Oney High, led the Lady Bobcats to their first Class B state title, with a game-winning bases-loaded triple in a 3--1 semifinal win over Coleman. She was named all-conference, led the team with a .495 batting average and threw out 13 of 19 runners attempting to steal.
