LONDON MAULING Toronto's Amir Johnson (top) and James Johnson (middle) put the Raps on Nets forward Damion James last Friday in London during the first NBA regular-season game held in Europe. James and New Jersey, however, hung on for a 116--103 victory. The following night, before another sellout crowd at O2 Arena, they beat the Raptors again, 137--136 in triple overtime.

CAT SCRATCH FEVER LSU guard Latear Eason laid down the claw on Kentucky forward Sarah Beth Barnette in their second-round SEC tournament game in Nashville last Friday. Barnette and the Wildcats held off the Lady Tigers in a 60--58 nail-biter but were eliminated in the finals by Tennessee.

TAKING THE LONG VIEW Creighton forward Doug McDermott had the best seat in the house to take in a lob pass from Antoine Young to Jahenns Manigat last Friday during a quarterfinal matchup in the Missouri Valley Conference tournament. Manigat missed an open layup, but the Bluejays held on to defeat Northern Iowa 60--57.
