WILY COYOTE Phoenix defenseman Rostislav Klesla (16) kept a straight face as he cleared Red Wings right wing Tomas Holmstrom from the crease and goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov (30) made a save during Game 2 of the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs in Detroit last Saturday. Holmstrom had a goal and an assist as the Red Wings won the game 4--3 to take a 2--0 lead in the series. Game 3 was held in Phoenix on Monday night.

SPRING FLING Alabama senior defensive back Phelon Jones (9) broke up a touchdown pass intended for sophomore wide receiver Kevin Norwood (83) during the Crimson Tide's spring game in Tuscaloosa last Saturday. A crowd of 92,310—an Alabama spring game record—watched the Crimson squad beat the White 14--10.
