Michigan State quarterback Kirk Cousins looks poised for a big senior year. Cousins, the Big Ten's fifth-rated passer last fall, went 22 of 29 for 285 yards and three TDs in the team's spring game.... Russell Wilson could become a sought-after football free agent if baseball doesn't work out. N.C. State gave the standout QB his release last week. Currently with a Rockies Class A team, Wilson already has his degree and would be immediately eligible were he to enroll elsewhere. ... Several BCS conference commissioners said last week that they hope to move the national title game to earlier in January when the current contract expires after the 2013 season. Oregon players missed more than a week of class before last season's game, on Jan. 10.
