WEIGHT CONTROL
TaylorMade came up with a new system that balances its irons while maintaining their consistency
IT'S HARD to play consistent golf if there are inconsistencies in your equipment. Club manufacturers go to great lengths to ensure that all the clubs within a given set are precisely matched to each other in terms of shaft weight, stiffness, flex point, frequency, center of gravity and overall swing weight. To match the swing weight, clubmakers often use a plug at the bottom of the shaft, but according to TaylorMade, the position and mass of that plug can alter the club's center of gravity and create inconsistencies between clubs.
A weight plug at the bottom of the shaft can alter the head's center of gravity, creating inconsistencies.
Varying center of gravity.
TaylorMade's precision weighting port is a removable weight that's centered in the clubhead.
TaylorMade can adjust the weight without affecting the center of gravity.
