Taylor Rivera-Silva

VIENNA, VA. > Lacrosse

Taylor, a junior goalkeeper at James Madison High, led the Warhawks to an undefeated season and their first AAA state championship. In the title-clinching 20--11 victory over Oakton she made 14 saves; after the first save she heaved a 30-yard outlet pass that led to a goal just 51 seconds into the game. Taylor finished the season with a .511 save percentage.

Zack Hattori

LAS VEGAS > Bowling

Zack, a recent graduate of Silverado High, won his second straight high school boys' title at the Teen Masters tournament in New York City. He advanced to the best-of-two grand championship, where he defeated the girls' winner 190--184 and 207--178 with a double in the final frame for the title and a $64,000 scholarship. In July, Zack earned a spot on the U.S. junior team.

Katie Harrison

NOBLESVILLE, IND. > Softball

Katie, a catcher and recent Noblesville High graduate, led the state in batting average (.649) and was named Indiana's Miss Softball. After missing a game following her father's death in May, she had two homers and four RBIs in a 9--2 victory over Brownsburg. Katie helped the Millers win their second consecutive conference title. She will play for Arkansas next year.

Geno Yauchler

WINTER HAVEN, FLA. > Hydrofoil

Yauchler, a 39-year-old hydrofoil instructor, won his fifth consecutive overall title at the Hydrofoil Nationals at Mills Pond Park in Fort Lauderdale. Competing in the pro category, he also won the three-trick and free-ride categories. Yauchler holds the world record for most inverts in an hour on a sit-down hydrofoil water ski, with 826 flips.

Lani Nacol

SANTA ROSA, CALIF. > In-line Speedskating

Lani, a recent graduate of Montgomery High who skates with Pac West Inline Racing, set U.S. records in the 500- (0:49.29), 1,000- (1:43.73) and 1,500-meter (2:42.15) races for junior ladies (ages 16 to 17) at the indoor nationals in Fort Wayne, Ind. She also won the junior ladies' high-point awards for the Southwest Pacific League's elite and novice divisions this season.

Tim Locke and Kyle Bishop

WATERVILLE, MAINE > Baseball

Tim and Kyle, recent Waterville High grads, combined for a 31--0 record over the past two seasons. Tim, who had a 0.52 ERA this year, pitched a three-hitter and scored the only run in a victory over Greely for the Class B title. Kyle had a 0.34 ERA and batted a team-high .576; he got last year's title win.
