Late Games

Jimmy Fallon puts the spotlight on sports during Super Bowl week

No late-night talk show is sportier than NBC's Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, which will air from Super Bowl host city Indianapolis on Feb. 1--3, with a live show after the game (Feb. 5). Herewith the host recalls some of his more jock-ular guests.

MAC ATTACK

"I played beer pong on the air with John McEnroe (above). Great guy. He has laser vision and is, of course, great at [the game]. But he got mad when he didn't hit the target, shouting, 'Come on!' He looked like he wanted to flip the table over."

ACTION, JACKSON!

"We keep things active because at 12:30, you're fighting people falling asleep. Would you rather watch me interview Samuel L. Jackson or watch me play hallway golf with him, where he tells the audience, 'Keep quiet, motherf------!'?"

PLAYING THROUGH

"When Tiger Woods was on the show, he and I had an awkward off-air moment. We were playing his Wii golf game, practicing for a show segment. He swung, and I said, 'Press down and shake it to put spin on the ball.' He said, 'Don't tell me how to play my game.' And he wasn't smiling. I was like, 'Whoa, sorry.'"
