WHY TIGER'S TOAST

It's a good bet that Tiger Woods will not end his four-year drought in the majors this week on Kiawah Island. Woods, you see, has a Pete Dye problem, and Dye designed Kiawah's wicked Ocean course. Since he turned pro in 1996, Woods has played PGA Tour events on two Dye layouts—the RBC Heritage at Harbour Town and the Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass—as well as two majors (the '04 and '10 PGA at Whistling Straits). In all, Woods has made 18 starts on Dye creations, winning only once (2001 Players) with three other top 10 finishes (22%). To go a step further, since that victory at the Players, Tiger has just one top 10 (eighth at '09 Players) in 12 starts on Dye courses (9%). Those percentages are shockingly low when compared with Woods's career top 10 percentage of 63.5.
