PETER KING'S THINGS I THINK

1 I think there's a simple reason the Rams are competitive for the first time in a decade: They went from having a bottom-five to a top-five cornerback tandem by acquiring free agent Cortland Finnegan and second-round pick Janoris Jenkins. Opposing QBs have a measly 66.6 rating.

2 I think Andrew Luck's precociousness is downright frightening. Bruce Arians coached Peyton Manning as a Colts rookie, and now he's mentoring another No. 1 pick. After watching Luck drive Indy 80 yards on Sunday for the winning TD with 35 seconds left against Green Bay, Arians raved about Luck's fluid running of the no-huddle—something Manning couldn't do until his third season.

3 I think, speaking of the top two QBs drafted last April, there's a big reason I'd have taken Luck No. 1 seven days out of seven. At FedEx Field on Sunday, Robert Griffin III suffered a concussion on a scramble. He's on pace to rush 134 times, and a 217-pound quarterback just isn't going to last by exposing himself to that much punishment.
