PETER KING'S: THINGS I THINK

1 I think the end of the Matt Cassel era in Kansas City is at hand with Monday's news that coach Romeo Crennel installed Brady Quinn as his starter, probably for the rest of the season. Look for the Chiefs—Scott Pioli or whoever is the G.M.—to take a QB from another rich field of passers in the draft.

2 I think the people of New Orleans should be pleased that Paul Tagliabue will oversee the appeals process in the Saints bounty case. There's a good chance owner Tom Benson would have moved the team to San Antonio after Hurricane Katrina, but Tagliabue stepped in and said there was no way the Saints would be leaving the city.

3 I think the Browns' loss to the Colts—and the fact that they have three games left against Baltimore or Pittsburgh—spells trouble for coach Pat Shurmur. New owner Jimmy Haslam would have to see marked progress out of the 1--6 Browns in order to keep Shurmur for 2013, and marked progress is probably a .500 record. That's one of the longest shots of the rest of this season.
