NOT: JAGS ON EDGE
Fans knew it would be another rebuilding year, but this? The Jaguars (1--7) haven't won since Sept. 23, rank 24th or worse in every major offensive and defensive category, and Blaine Gabbert is averaging 178.6 yards passing—least of any QB with more than two starts.
HOT: LOUISVILLE SLUGGIN'
Sure it's the Big East, and they haven't played a ranked team yet, but so what? The Cardinals' 9--0 start, after Louisville destroyed Temple 45--17, is the best in school history. With the W the Cards moved into a tie with Rutgers (7--1), which they play on Nov. 29—likely for a BCS bowl bid.
NOT: SHIRT HAPPENS
In Arsenal's 2--1 loss to Manchester United, Gunners left back Andre Santos compounded his terrible defending with terrible decision-making by asking United's Robin van Persie for his jersey—when there was still 45 minutes to play. Said Arsenal legend Ray Parlour, "That's a joke."
HOT: MARTIN SCORES-EASY
Doug Martin ran for 251 yards and four TDs on 25 carries in Tampa Bay's 42--32 win over Oakland. The rookie from Boise State, nicknamed Muscle Hamster, provided the greatest fantasy football day this year, scoring more than 50 points in standard leagues.
NOT: SKINS IN DEEP
Remember a few weeks ago when RG3 made Washington the NFL's most exciting team? Well, a 21--13 loss to lowly Carolina on Sunday (in hideous throwbacks) dropped the Skins, who have the third-worst pass D in the league, to 3--6 heading into a much-needed bye week.
