PAUL POWERS

GAINESVILLE, GA. > SWIMMING

Paul, a junior at North Hall High, set two state records at the Pilot Aquatic Invitational at the University of Tennessee. He won the 50-yard freestyle in 20.23 seconds to break Georgia's USA Swimming marks for 15- to 16-year-olds and 17- to 18-year-olds. He also set a state record with a 43.99 in the 100 free, the third best all time by an American 16-year-old. Paul swam the 50 free at the 2012 Olympic trials.

MORGAN ANDREWS

MILFORD, N.H. > SOCCER

Morgan, a senior midfielder at Milford High and captain of the U.S. U-17 World Cup team, scored both goals in a 2--1 win over Souhegan High to lead the Spartans to the Division 2 state title. She led the squad with 31 goals and 18 assists this season, while also kicking for the football team. Morgan, the 2011 national Gatorade girls' soccer player of the year, holds the school career-scoring record.

LUKE HEINSOHN

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA. > FOOTBALL

Heinsohn, a senior running back at Washington and Lee, had 192 yards and four touchdowns on 35 carries and kicked a game-winning 37-yard field goal in a 45--42 quadruple-overtime win over Hampden-Sydney. The victory clinched the Old Dominion Athletic Conference regular-season title for the Generals. Heinsohn leads all NCAA divisions in scoring with 19.56 points per game.

PEIGHTON MESKE

KNOXVILLE, TENN. > CROSS-COUNTRY

Peighton, a sophomore at The Webb School of Knoxville, won the Tennessee 2A state meet in 19:30.59 to lead the Spartans to a 1--2 sweep and the team title. She ran the 5K course at Percy Warner Park in Nashville two weeks after surgery to repair a collarbone that she broke in a collision as a midfielder for Webb's soccer team in a 2--1 triple-overtime regionals loss.

RONNIE SCHNEIDER

BLOOMINGTON, IND. > TENNIS

Ronnie, a senior at Bloomington South, beat Dan Rayl of Park Tudor High in straight sets to win his third consecutive state singles title. His win capped three straight undefeated seasons and a career during which he was 99--3. This year he did not lose a set in 34 matches. Ronnie, who is the USTA's No. 2--ranked 18-year-old, made it to the national semifinals in August. He will compete at North Carolina.

KENDALL BREWER

AUSTIN > ROWING

Kendall, a junior at Austin High, won the Head of the Charles Regatta's special medal for the top youth finish in the women's club singles race, held in Boston. Competing for the Texas Rowing Center, she placed third overall among female scullers, with a 21:17.35 finish on the 3.2-mile course. Kendall was named to the junior national development team last summer.

RANDOM ACT OF KINDNESS

Former Texans offensive lineman Chester Pitts (right) rented two minibuses and enlisted other current and former Houston players to help shuttle area senior citizens to and from their polling places on Election Day.
