VARIABLE DEPTH OF PUTTER GROOVES MEANS FEWER MIS-HITS
Ping engineers recently discovered that deep grooves slow down putts more than shallow grooves, so they developed a variable-depth groove insert pattern for all 12 of the new Scottsdale TR (True Roll) putters. The grooves are the deepest in the center and get shallower near the perimeter, so mis-hits roll almost as far as putts hit on the sweet spot. (The putter also has an optional adjustable shaft that allows it to be played at any length from 31 to 38 inches.) Hunter Mahan (right) put a Scottsdale TR ZB putter into his bag for last week's World Challenge and tied for ninth in the 18-player field.
