Karlie, a 5'11" senior guard, and Katie Lou, a 6' 3" sophomore center, were named Nike Tournament of Champions co-MVPs, leading Mater Dei (Santa Ana) to the title over Riverdale Baptist (Upper Marlboro, Md.) 96--74. Katie Lou has 21.5 ppg and Karlie has 17.5 for the 19--0 Monarchs, ranked No. 1 by USA Today.

DALTON ISHMAEL

NORTH BALTIMORE, OHIO > WRESTLING

Dalton, a senior at North Baltimore High, pinned all three of his opponents in the 195-pound weight class at the Perrysburg Invitational Tournament to set a state mark for career falls with 144. The record-setting pin, over Brady Clayton of Perrysburg High, came at 1:54 in the final. Dalton was 32--0 this season through Sunday, with only three of his matches extending past the first period.

VANESSA ZAMARRIPA

O'FALLON, ILL. > GYMNASTICS

Zamarripa, a senior at UCLA, won the all-around (39.675 points), finishing or tying for first in three events, to help the No. 2 Bruins defeat No. 5 Utah with a team score of 197.425, the highest in the nation this season. She won on uneven bars (9.975) and tied with teammates for first on balance beam (9.925) and floor exercises (9.950). Last year she finished the regular season No. 1 in the nation on vault.

LOGAN OWEN

BREMERTON, WASH. > CYCLING

Logan, a senior at Bremerton High who competes for Team Redline, took first place with a 43:19 finish in the 17-and-18-year-old junior men's race for his eighth consecutive cyclo-cross national title, at Badger Prairie Park in Verona, Wis. He defeated the runner-up by 1:58. Logan, who is tied for second in the UCI World Cup series junior standings, will compete at the world championships in Louisville next month.

AMANDA KESSEL

MADISON, WIS. > ICE HOCKEY

Kessel, a junior forward at top-ranked Minnesota, had seven points (three goals, four assists) in a two-game sweep of Minnesota State to break the 200-career-point mark. The national scoring leader with 71 points through Sunday had a hat trick and an assist in the first win over the Mavericks (8--1) and three assists in the second (6--0) to help the Gophers tie the NCAA unbeaten streak record (32).

ALLAN CHANEY

BALTIMORE > BASKETBALL

Chaney, a redshirt senior at High Point (N.C.) University, had 22 points and 12 rebounds in a 77--72 double-OT win over Liberty. The four-star recruit returned to the court this season after three years: one lost to a transfer from Florida to Virginia Tech and two to defibrillator implantation surgery for a heart ailment. Averaging a team-high 7.8 boards, he is CBSSports.com's midseason comeback player of the year.

SIGN OF THE APOCALYPSE

The Florence (Ky.) Freedom, a baseball team in the Independent Frontier League, has announced plans for a Manti Te'o Girlfriend Bobblehead Night this May at which they will give out empty boxes to the first 1,000 fans.
