"I'm most excited by the ball. It's a little less spinny, and a little harder cover allows me to be more aggressive with my irons. I don't have to allow for as much spin."

PING'S SCOTTSDALE TR PUTTERS FEATURE VARIABLE-DEPTH GROOVES
Face grooves are commonly used in putters to enhance roll. In Ping's Scottsdale TR, the grooves—deepest in the center and shallower toward the perimeter—regulate ball speeds for improved distance control on off-center hits. The putters come with a telescoping shaft ($20 upcharge), which enables players to adjust the length between 31 and 38 inches. A dozen models, from blades to large mallets, fit a variety of stroke types (straight, slight arc, strong arc). Converts include Hunter Mahan (ZB S), Lee Westwood (adjustable Shea) and Angel Cabrera (Shea H). In addition, the company has updated its iPing Putter app (free download on iTunes) to measure lie angle and shaft lean at address and impact, as well as head rotation during the stroke, swing tempo and face angle at impact.
The aluminum face insert has specially designed milled grooves to help mis-hits roll similar distances as center strikes.
