A Terrifying Scene at Daytona The last lap of the Nationwide Series race at Daytona International Speedway turned horrifying last Saturday when Kyle Larson's vehicle became airborne after getting caught up in a 12-car wreck (page 16). Larson walked away unhurt, but debris from his car—including part of the engine and a tire—injured at least 28 people in the crowd, two critically. (Both patients were upgraded to stable on Sunday.) The wall and catch fence were repaired in time for the next day's Daytona 500.

One Small Tap for a Woman ... Ronda Rousey made history last Saturday night, winning the first women's UFC bout when Liz Carmouche tapped out at 4:49 of the first round. Rousey, who won each of her previous six professional MMA bouts, took down the former marine in front of a sellout crowd of 15,525 at the Honda Center in Anaheim.

1918—2013 Ozzie Sweet Though he was noted more for his posed portraits, Ozzie Sweet certainly could take a great candid photo now and again. Sweet, who died on Feb. 20 at age 94, shot this picture of Yankees Mickey Mantle, Bob Grim, Billy Martin and Whitey Ford on a deep-sea fishing trip in 1957. Sweet took countless photos—many staged in painstaking detail—that appeared on the cover of SPORT, as well as several that appeared in SI. "I'm a photo illustrator," Sweet said in 2005. "It starts with an empty canvas, and I use a camera instead of a paintbrush." This week's tablet edition of SI contains an Ozzie Sweet portrait gallery. It is free to subscribers at SI.com/activate
