WORLD SERIES

The long-awaited second-half returns of pitchers Colby Lewis, Neftali Feliz and Matt Harrison bolster an already strong Yu Darvish--led Rangers rotation to win their third AL pennant in four seasons. The Pirates secure their first winning record in 21 years and snare a wild card—though their playoff stay is short-lived thanks to the late-surging Nationals. No one can stop the Cardinals, as baseball's deepest and most-balanced team wins its third World Series title in the last eight seasons.

.500 Club

That's the magic number in the hypercompetitive AL East, which has a chance to make history in the second half. Only one AL East team went into the All-Star break with a losing record—the Blue Jays, who were four games under .500. Since divisional play began in 1969, a division has finished without a losing team just twice: in the AL West in '91 and in the NL East in 2005.
