Luis Ortiz | Sanger, Calif. | Baseball

Luis, a senior pitcher at Hallmark Charter School, entered the 18-and-under World Cup final in Taichung, Taiwan, in the eighth and held Japan to one run to clinch gold for the U.S., 3--2. The righthander went 1--0 with three saves in five appearances, allowing just two earned runs in 81/3 innings while striking out 12. Luis was named the tournament MVP.

Hannah Kronick | Westfield, N.J. | Soccer

Kronick, a junior forward at Johns Hopkins, was named the National Soccer Coaches Association of America D-III Player of the Week a second straight time after scoring three goals against Stevenson and Washington College. Leading the team in points at week's end (20), she has helped the 9--0 Blue Jays reach a program-best No. 2 ranking.

Richard LeCounte | Riceboro, Ga. | Football

Richard, a freshman free safety at Liberty County High, had six tackles, two interceptions and one forced fumble in a 40--20 win over Johnson High. He has 36 tackles, four picks and two forced fumbles in leading the Panthers to a 4--0 start, while averaging 13.1 yards per touch as a quarterback, receiver, running back and return man.

Jana Wuensch | Herrenberg, Germany | Golf

Jana, a senior at the International Junior Golf Academy, shot a one-over 143 at the IJGT Junior at Hilton Head National (Bluffton, S.C.) to win her third straight IJGT event. She also won the Lowcountry Open at Oldfield Golf Club (Okatie, S.C.) and the Georgia Junior at Sea Island Golf Club (St. Simons Island). Jana's average score was 73.0 in the six rounds.

Kennedy Kithuka | Thika, Kenya | Cross-country

Kithuka, a Texas Tech senior, won the 8,000-meter Texas Tech Open by more than a minute with a time of 24:09.00, leading the Red Raiders to a sweep of the top three spots. The defending NCAA champion and a two-time NAIA champ, Kithuka is unbeaten in his Texas Tech career after winning all seven of his races in 2012 and his first two this year.

Hunter and Greta Candreva | Katonah, N.Y. | Fencing

Siblings Hunter and Greta, in seventh and sixth grade, respectively, at Somers Middle School, won the boys' and girls' 12-and-under épée gold at the North Texas Super Youth Circuit in Irving, Texas. They are both ranked No. 1 in the nation in their divisions by USA Fencing.
