Christian McCaffrey | Castle Rock, Colo. | Football

Christian, a senior running back at Valor Christian High and Colorado's alltime touchdown leader (133) and scorer (800 points), ran 15 times for 272 yards and three TDs to lead the defending champion Eagles past Columbine 49--13 in the 5A quarterfinals. The son of ex--NFL wideout Ed McCaffrey, Christian has committed to Stanford.

Maureen Sullivan | Mason, Ohio | Water Polo

Maureen, a senior driver at Mason High, scored three goals to help beat Sycamore 11--7 for the Comets' first state title. She led the team with 126 goals and won her second straight Ohio player of the year award. Last year she was named an All-America. Maureen, who also swims for the Mason Manta Rays club team, signed at Miami of Ohio.

Arturo Aupont | Chicago | Soccer

Arturo, a senior striker at George Washington High, had a goal and an assist to lead the Patriots to the Class 2A state championship, heading in the game-winner in a 2--1 double-overtime defeat of St. Ignatius College Prep. It was the Patriots' first boys' soccer state title and only the third in 41 years for a Chicago public school.

Kate Courtney | Kentfield, Calif. | Cycling

Courtney, a Stanford freshman, won the Division I cross-country and short-track titles at the collegiate mountain bike nationals at Beech Mountain, N.C. In July she won the same events at age group nationals in Macungie, Pa., and in August she was sixth in the junior cross-country race at the UCI world championships in South Africa.

Neco Brett | Kingston, Jamaica | Soccer

Brett, a sophomore striker at Robert Morris, scored 14 goals, second most in the nation, and added eight assists to finish the regular season as the Division I leading scorer with 36 points. He was named the Northeast Conference player of the year. Brett has played on Jamaica's U-17, U-20 and U-23 teams.

Kelly Svoboda | Cleveland | Volleyball

Svoboda, a senior libero at Buffalo, broke three digging marks with 43 in a five-set loss to Toledo, including the Division I single-match record. Her performance set program marks for season and career digs—which she extended to 626 and 1,935, respectively, through Sunday—including 25 digs in a 3--2 win over the defending MAC champion, Bowling Green.
