Faces in the Crowd

Caroline Alcorta | Springfield, Va. | Indoor Track and Field

Caroline, a senior at West Springfield High, won the girls' high school mile by 2.10 seconds, in 4:46.06, setting a Millrose Games record at the 107th annual invitational meet, held at the Armory Track and Field Center in New York City. In December she finished third at the Foot Locker Nationals 5K race in San Diego (17:31).

Luke Gavigan | Blauvelt, N.Y. | Indoor Track and Field

Luke, a junior at Tappan Zee High, won the high school boys' mile by 1.32 seconds, in 4:08.96, at the Millrose Games, third fastest in state history and a Rockland County and New York state junior class record. A month earlier he ran a personal-best 4:15.68—then the fastest time this year among high school milers—to qualify for Millrose.

Corinne Boyles | Wheaton, Ill. | Ice Hockey

Boyles, a Boston College graduate student, stopped 25 shots to beat Northeastern 3--0 in the 36th annual Beanpot championship, earning the Joe Bertagna Goalie Award. Five days later she made 22 saves in a 4--1 win over Maine to clinch the Hockey East regular-season title. At week's end Boyles had a .927 save percentage and a 1.83 goals-against average.

Donald Lawes | Queens, N.Y. | Basketball

Lawes, a 6'7" senior center at Division III Farmingdale (N.Y.) State, had seven blocks in a 83--79 win over Sage to break the Rams' single-season record of 99. Second in the NCAA in blocks (4.40 per game through Sunday), he was the Mid-State Athletic Conference defensive player of 2013 while playing for Cayuga County (N.Y.) Community College.

Kelsey Minato | Huntington Beach, Calif. | Basketball

Minato, a sophomore guard at Army, went 26 for 26 from the line in a 92--85 loss to Holy Cross to set an NCAA women's record for consecutive and total free throws in a game. At week's end she was averaging 21.7 points and hitting 91.8% of her foul shots. In 2013, Minato became the first Patriot League athlete to be named player and rookie of the year.

Jared and Connor Prince | Safety Harbor, Fla. | Wrestling

Twins Jared and Connor, juniors at Palm Harbor University High, each went undefeated in winning state 3A titles. Jared took the 126-pound title, his second, with a 7--1 decision over Fleming Island High's Evan McCall; Connor won the 132-pound crown, pinning Ethan Owens of George Jenkins High in 1:13.
