Devin King | Kentwood, La. | Indoor Track and Field
Devin, a senior at Jewel M. Sumner High, cleared 17' 10¼" to break the national high school indoor pole vault record (17' 9¼", set in 2011) and win the New Balance national indoor title at the Armory in New York City. A month earlier he set the Louisiana indoor mark with a vault of 17'8". Devin will compete at Southeastern Louisiana.
Tessa Barrett | Waverly, Pa. | Indoor Track and Field
Tessa, a home-schooled senior who competes for Abington Heights High, ran a high school record indoor 5K (16:11.85) at indoor nationals, breaking the year-old mark by 6.16 seconds. She also won the two-mile title in 10:08.05, a Pennsylvania record. The 2013 Foot Locker outdoor national 5K champ (17:15.40), Tessa will run at Penn State.
Josh Alber | Dakota, Ill. | Wrestling
Josh, a Dakota High senior, beat Coal City High's Casey Brown 16--5 in the 132-pound Class 1A final for his fourth state crown, becoming the first wrestler to go undefeated in Illinois history (182--0). In December he defeated Jered Cortez of Chicago's Glenbard North High, then ranked No. 1 in the nation. Josh will wrestle at Northern Iowa.
Katharine Ogden | Landgrove, Vt. | Nordic Skiing
Katharine, a sophomore at Stratton Mountain School, won the under-18 women's classic 5K (15:49.4) and the freestyle 10K (29:28.6) at the junior national cross-country ski championships in Stowe, Vt. She also helped the Stratton 3 ... 3K relay team take gold. Last summer Katharine was named to U.S. Ski's National Elite Group.
Matthew Scott | Brooklyn | Basketball
Matthew, a 6'4" senior guard at Brooklyn High School for Law and Technology, led his Public School Athletic League division with 28.4 points per game this season while guiding the Jets to their first Class A Final Four appearance. Despite Law & Tech's lack of a full-size court, Matthew earned the school's first D-I scholarship, to Niagara.
Laura Lindsey | Montgomery, Texas | Golf
Lindsey, a sophomore at the University of Texas-Tyler, shot a seven-over 223, including a career-best 68—the lowest round in the 13-year history of the Jekyll Island Intercollegiate—to win the tournament by six strokes and lead the Patriots to a second-place finish in the 20-team field. Lindsey is the defending Division III champion.
