"My Wilson Staff sand wedge was designed around what I like. I had a lot of influence on the bounce, grind, look, the way it works through rough and around greens, everything."

Going Deep

Callaway X2 Hot Deep fairway woods

Phil Mickelson virtually sealed his British Open win last year with a brilliant pair of 3-wood shots to reach Muirfield's par-5 17th in 2 during the final round. The Champion Golfer of the Year smashed those shots using Callaway's X Hot 3Deep (13°) 3-wood. A new fairway wood called X2 Hot Deep consists of a 2Deep (12.5°), 3Deep (14.5°) and 5Deep (18.5°). The clubs feature a thinner, lighter Carpenter 455 forged cup face than in the X Hot Deep for faster ball speeds (in particular, on shots struck low on the face). A higher MOI contributes to more forgiveness and improved consistency, while a flatter roll radius helps shots to launch higher. Mickelson is one of the Tour players sporting the X2 Hot 2Deep, which is 20cc larger than X Hot 3Deep, has a bigger face and added forgiveness. $230 each
