Mike Delio | Westbury, N.Y. | Baseball

Mike, a junior righthander at Carle Place High, hurled a perfect game in his varsity pitching debut—he was on the Frogs' jayvee team last season—in a 15--0 win over Hempstead High. He threw 84 pitches (70 of them strikes) in the seven-inning perfecto and then pitched a one-hitter in his next start.

Desiree Freier | Haslet, Texas | Track and Field

Desiree, a senior at Northwest High in Justin, broke the national pole vault record by half an inch, clearing 14' 3¼" in her first attempt at the Texas Relays in Austin. She set the indoor vault mark (14' 23/4") at nationals in New York City last month and previously held the Texas outdoor record (13'9").

Brandon Ivey | Ashburn, Va. | Taekwondo

Brandon, a junior at Briar Woods High, became the first American male to win gold at the junior world championships in 16 years, beating Hamza Kattan of Jordan 5--4 in sudden death overtime to take the heavyweight title in Taipei. He was named USA Taekwondo's male junior athlete of 2013.

Sierra Ciesiolka | Harker Heights, Texas | Bowling

Sierra, a freshman at Harker Heights High, threw three strikes in the 10th frame of the state final to erase a 22-pin deficit and help the Knights defeat McKinney Boyd High 2--1. She averaged 188 this season and also helped the Central Texas all-district team win the all-star state tournament.

Collin Lancaster | Bethlehem, Ga. | Wheelchair Basketball

Collin, a fourth-grade point guard at Bethlehem Elementary, scored 17 points to lead the Atlanta Junior Wheelchair Hawks to a 36--29 win over the Chicago Skyhawks for a third straight national prep-division title. Collin, who sustained a spinal-cord injury when he was five, was named tournament MVP.

Skylarr Shurn | Kokomo, Ind. | Basketball

Shurn, a 5'5" senior guard at St. Francis in Fort Wayne, Ind., led the Cougars to a 38--0 finish, pouring in 30 points in a 75--68 win over College of the Ozarks for the NAIA Division II national title. She averaged 20.5 points this season and was named the NAIA D-II player of the year.
