Patrick Mahomes | Whitehouse, Texas | Baseball, Football

Patrick, a Whitehouse High senior, threw a no-hitter with 16 strikeouts to beat Mt. Pleasant 2--1; later that day he went 3 for 4, with a three-run homer, to beat Princeton High 10--3. He was the Mr. Basketball runner-up and as a quarterback was the state player of the year. The son of MLB pitcher Pat Mahomes, he is a Tigers draftee but will play football at Texas Tech.

Steph Thomas | Pompton Plains, N.J. | Softball

Steph, a senior righthander at Immaculate Heart in Washington Township, became New Jersey's alltime leader with her 113th win, a one-hitter with eight strikeouts in five innings to beat Lyndhurst High 10--0. Steph also broke the state shutout record four days earlier (69). She finished the season with a 0.51 ERA and will play at Lafayette.

Ben Albin | Santa Fe | Golf

Ben, a junior at Albuquerque Academy, made birdie putts of 20 and 30 feet, respectively, on his final two holes to win the Class 4A title by five shots with a three-over 147. He had finished as the runner-up by one shot for the previous two years. Ben's performance also gave the Chargers a one-shot victory over St. Pius for the state championship.

Brooke Baldwin | Windermere, Fla. | Waterskiing

Brooke, a SunRidge Middle School seventh-grader, age 13, became the youngest junior women's overall winner at the 17-and-under Junior Masters Water Ski & Wakeboard Tournament in Pine Mountain, Ga. She cleared two buoys at 35 feet off the rope in slalom, scored 6,670 points in tricks and had a personal-best 111 feet in jumping.

Curtis Thompson | Florence, N.J. | Track and Field

Curtis, a senior at Florence High, threw the javelin 224'10" for a state record at the New Jersey Meet of Champions, the top distance among high schoolers in the nation this season through Sunday. In April he was second at the Penn Relays in Philadelphia with a throw of 220'5". Curtis will compete at Mississippi State.

Madison Brayman | Charlestown, R.I. | Equestrian

Madison, a senior at Chariho High who rides for Hunter Ridge Farms, won the varsity open championship (combining hunt-seat equitation over fences and equitation on the flat) at the Interscholastic Equestrian Association national finals in Springfield, Mass. Named the IEA's hunt-seat rider of the year, she will compete for New Mexico State.
