MY BAG: Stacy Lewis

"I've played graphite shafts in irons since my back surgery [at age 18]. I feel better—it's easier. You don't have to worry that you're losing anything by using graphite."

TECH TALK

In the Slot

TaylorMade's RSi irons

The RSi 1 (above) and the RSi 2 have face slots in the 3-through 8-irons to maintain high ball speeds on off-center strikes.

TAYLORMADE'S newest irons have an "inverted cone" face design, plus cutouts in the sole (called speed pockets) and behind the clubface (thru slots) to increase ball speed on shots struck lower on the face. The RSi 1 (near left; replaces SpeedBlade irons) and RSi 2 irons (far left; replaces SLDR) have slots on the face in the heel and toe, in addition to the cuts in the sole and cavity. The company says this combination provides more uniform flex, ball speed and consistency across the face. Available on Nov. 14. RSi 1: $799, steel; $899, graphite; RSi 2: $999, steel; $1,199, graphite; golf.com/taylormade
