Fraud Alert

In light of the University of North Carolina's academic fraud scandal, 120 Sports hosts Eric Edholm and Chris Martin, a former Northwestern defensive back, discuss whether teams found guilty of academic improprieties should face multiyear NCAA penalties. "It depends on the situation," says Edholm. "Is this abuse widespread? Is it just two coaches helping a kid out? If it goes to the top, then, yes, serious penalties need to occur." Says Martin, "My issue is jurisdiction. I think it's over the top for the NCAA to have the right to jump in and be judge, jury and executioner. I think an organization outside of the NCAA, made up of former players, should investigate on a case-by-case basis."
