FACES IN THE CROWD

Derrick Bisnett | Bismarck, N.D. | Wheelchair Basketball

Bisnett, a senior forward at Wisconsin-Whitewater, scored 36 points to lead the WarHawks to a 68--55 win over Illinois--Urbana Champaign for a second straight intercollegiate title. He averaged 20.0 points, 9.6 rebounds and 8.3 assists this season and was named the national player of the year.

Amy Wang | Sewell, N.J. | Table Tennis

Amy, a sixth-grader at Orchard Valley Middle School, made the semifinals on the last day of trials in Dallas to become the youngest member of the U.S. women's team that will compete at worlds in Suzhou, China, next month. In 2014 she won the national cadet title and was runner-up at junior nationals.

Philip Hall | Fayetteville, N.C. | Track and Field

Philip, a senior at South View High, won the 1,000, 1,600 and 3,200 meters at the 4A indoor meet and anchored the 4 √ó 800 relay to a state record (7:57.23), leading the Tigers to the championship. Last year he received the Laurel Wreath Award, the state's highest athletic honor. Philip will run at N.C. State.

Marissa Wells | Freeland, Md. | Polo

Marissa, a senior at Hereford High, scored 17 goals to lead the Maryland Polo Club to a 22--7 win over Central Coast Polo Club (San Luis Obispo, Calif.) and a second straight national interscholastic title. She was named the tournament's No. 1 all-star. Marissa will compete at Texas A&M.

Roman Jaworsky | Las Vegas | BMX Racing

Roman, a ninth-grader at Clark High School, earned the amateur title at Grand Nationals in Tulsa with his 13th win for 2,323 points, 140 more than Andrew Townsend of Hampton, Va. Roman, 13, was the first rider under 16 to earn the title in nine years. Last July he was fifth in his age group at worlds.

Melissa Marchese | Irvine, Calif. | Synchronized Skating

Marchese, a senior captain at Miami (Ohio), led the RedHawks to gold in the collegiate division for the 11th straight time, extending their U.S. figure skating record for consecutive titles. Miami, skating to a program with music from the movie Nine, scored 94.12 points to beat Michigan by 8.43.
