Death of a Goalie

This week marks the 30th anniversary of the death of Flyers goalie Pelle Lindbergh, who, at age 26, lost control of his Porsche 930 Turbo (bottom, right) and crashed into a wall outside an elementary school in Somerdale, N.J. At the time of the crash, his blood alcohol level was more than twice the state's legal limit. Lindbergh was coming off his best season in the NHL; he had 40 wins and was named the league's top goaltender.
