
FACES IN THE CROWD
Sam Colbray | Hermiston, Ore. | Wrestling
Sam, a senior at Hermiston High, beat Century High's Jamarcus Grant 3--1 in overtime for the 195-pound title at Reser's Tournament of Champions in Hillsboro. The three-time state titlist and defending junior national champ, who's ranked No. 1 in the country at 195 by InterMat, was 36--1 through Sunday. Sam will wrestle at Iowa State.
Ashley Van Sickle | Arvada, Colo. | Basketball
Ashley, a 5'7" junior point guard at Ralston Valley High, had a quadruple double in a 73--30 win over Bear Creek High, with 25 points, 11 assists, 13 rebounds and 10 steals. At week's end she led Colorado's 5A players with 5.2 steals per game, tied for the lead with 6.3 assists and averaged 17.2 points and 5.4 rebounds.
Ben Topp | Cornelius, N.C. | Basketball
Ben, a 6'7" junior forward at Hough High, made all 19 of his shots from the floor (and sank his only free throw) to lead the Huskies to a 68--51 win over A.L. Brown High and break the state mark for field goal accuracy; the previous record was 18 for 18. Ben was averaging 10.3 points on 59.4% shooting and 4.1 rebounds through Sunday.
Natalie Hinds | Midland, Texas | Swimming
Hinds, a senior at Florida, swam the 50-meter freestyle against Auburn in 26.10 seconds, a time that qualifies her for the Olympic trials. Last year she was the SEC champion in the 100-yard free and placed third in the event at NCAAs. A 16-time All-America, Hinds holds school records in the 50-yard free (21.55) and the 100 (46.94).
Mikey Eyssimont | Littleton, Colo. | Hockey
Eyssimont, a freshman forward at St. Cloud (Minn.) State, had a goal and an assist in a 5--2 win over Bemidji State for the North Star College Cup title. He also scored twice with an assist in a 5--4 semifinal victory over Minnesota State. Eyssimont, who had eight goals and 13 assists in his first 29 games, was named the Cup's most outstanding player.
Allie Ostrander | Kenai, Alaska | Indoor Track and Field
Ostrander, a freshman at Boise State, won the 5,000 meters at the Washington Invitational—her first 5K race ever on a track—in 15:21.85, the top time in the nation this season and the third-fastest indoor 5K in collegiate history on an oversized track. She was the Division I cross-country runner-up in 2015.
