FOR JULY 4--11, 2016

While I applaud Caitlyn Jenner's courage in telling her story in the Where Are They Now issue, the only person wondering "Where is she now?" would be one who's lived in an underground shelter without contact with the outside world for the last five years.

Tim Shaw, Stamford, Conn.

I was astonished to read that Kobayashi had just set the record for "the most hot dogs eaten while playing Ping-Pong" at 35. I had always foolishly believed that the record of 34 would stand forever.

Chuck Hafter

South Burlington, Vt.

Based on the decision to feature Jenner, it appears SI has lowered its standards. I have no problem with an individual's gender decisions, but I don't want to see and read about them in my sports magazine.

Douglas Stone, Darnestown, Md.

What bothered me most was the headline, "An American Hero." America's heroes wear uniforms, guard us and make us proud.

Paul Oyler, Alta Loma, Calif.

IF YOU DO NOT WANT SWIMSUIT CONTENT

The upcoming Aug. 22 issue will contain a special section featuring SI Swimsuit material. If you wish to opt out of receiving that content, please call our customer service center toll-free at 1-866-228-1175. If you choose to opt out, you will still receive the issue, just without the Swimsuit section.

COVER

Even though Seattle has never won a World Series, to see Ken Griffey Jr. enter the Hall as a Mariner will be wonderful for fans in the Pacific Northwest. While many of his peers have been tarnished by PED use, Junior remains a true role model.

Jeff Swanson

Everett, Wash.

SCORECARD

I was surprised you did not include José Feliciano's rendition from the 1968 World Series in your rundown of the best and worst national anthem performances in sports. You probably didn't know which list to put it on.

Norm Miller

Farmington Hills, Mich.

POINT AFTER

Steve Rushin's description of Jim Abbott pitching against a brick wall in Flint, Mich., was a poignant reminder of the steely resolve of its citizens.

Terry Rhadigan

South Lyon, Mich.
