Logan Brettell and Kyle Zimmerman have a lot in common. Each played quarterback at Blue Valley High in Stilwell, Kans., and each led the Tigers to a state title (Zimmerman in 2010, Brettell in '13). Now the two are connected again. This season Brettell and Baker University were the NAIA runners-up while Zimmerman's Northwest Missouri State team won the Divison II championship, and at season's end each was named Academic All-America of the Year in his respective division. Their smarts and shared history have kept them close. "I looked up to Kyle more than I looked up to a lot of NFL players," says Brettell, the backup on the '10 team. "To be considered equal to him in some respects means a lot."
