Jimmy Snuka (1943-2017)

On Oct. 17, 1983, Jimmy (Superfly) Snuka climbed atop a steel cage at Madison Square Garden, steadied himself, then created one of the more iconic images in WWE history. His arms out like Superman, Snuka splashed down on Don Muraco, finishing the match. Snuka, a WWE Hall of Famer, became one of the biggest stars in wrestling.

His later life was not as glamorous. In 2015, after a cold case was reopened, Snuka was charged with third-degree murder and involuntary manslaughter in the 1983 death of Nancy Argentino, his paramour. On Jan. 3 a Pennsylvania judge deemed the wrestler, who suffered from dementia, unfit to stand trial. Two weeks later Snuka died in Florida. He was 73.
