Armand Duplantis | Lafayette, La. | Track and Field

Armand, a junior pole vaulter at Lafayette High, cleared 19'1" to win the New Balance national indoor championships in New York City, setting a high school and U-20 record. A month later he vaulted 19' 4¼" to win the Texas Relays, beating 2015 world champion Shawn Barber. Armand will compete for Sweden at the worlds in August.

Tommy Hansen | Indianapolis | Baseball

Tommy, a sophomore outfielder at Roncalli High, became the first high school player to hit three consecutive grand slams in a 12--1 victory over Metamora (Ill.). It was only his sixth career varsity appearance. Through 10 games, Tommy led the Rebels with five home runs, 24 RBIs and a .452 batting average.

Laina Snyder | Millersburg, Ohio | Basketball

Snyder, a 6'1" junior forward-center at Ashland (Ohio) University, had 17 points, seven rebounds and six assists in a 93--77 win over Virginia Union for the Division II championship. The D-II player of the year, she averaged 17.4 points, 8.8 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 3.0 steals. Last season Snyder set a school record with 102 steals.

Sage Surratt | Lincolnton, N.C. | Football/Basketball

Sage, a 6'3", 200-pound senior at Lincolnton High, became the first athlete to be named North Carolina's AP player of the year in football and basketball. He set single-season state records for catches (129) and receiving yards (2,104); on the court he averaged 34.6 points, 11.8 rebounds and 5.5 assists. Sage will play receiver at Wake Forest.

Ryan Jackson | Chino Hills, Calif. | Softball

Jackson, a freshman outfielder at Bethune-Cookman, had 14 hits, four doubles, a triple, three home runs and 13 RBIs in a sweep of three teams. In a 10--4 victory over Fairfield she went 4 for 4 while driving in three runs. Through 43 games Jackson led the Wildcats in batting (.431), homers (13) and RBIs (43).

Dan and Sandi Wood | Port St. Lucie, Fla. | Golf

Dan, 70, and Sandi, 76, who have been married since 1986, won 70-and-over titles this year. Dan took the PGA Senior Stroke Play Championship with a final-round 68. Sandi won the PGA Golf Club Women's Championship with a 74. They also coached the Ithaca (N.Y.) College team for six years.
