Thrones of Their Own

THE SEVENTH SEASON of Game of Thrones throws out its first pitch on July 16, and to help hype the debut—as if it needed help—21 MLB teams partnered with the show on Thrones-themed events, including Ser Andrew Benintendi bobbleheads and KING IN THE NORTHWEST T-shirts. That pairing of show and sport might seem an odd mix, but it does raise the question—which other leagues match up with which top television programs?

House of Cards

The Simpsons

There's something very American here: fast cars, cold beer and gas fumes on the one hand, and fast food, Duff beer and nuclear waste on the other.

Fargo

Neither may command your attention year round, but both provide funny accents, sudden violence and lots of ice.

Master of None

Pro soccer and Aziz Ansari's hit comedy both feature a native creation that's capitalizing on an outsider sensibility.

THEY SAID IT

"I GOT THREE WORDS FOR HIM: CAN'T. PLAY. AT. ALL. OH SHOOT, THAT'S FOUR."

LaVar Ball

Father of Lakers guard Lonzo, firing back at 76ers center Joel Embiid, who had disparaged LaVar on social media.

SIGN OF THE APOCALYPSE

The Class A Potomac Nationals hosted Tommy John Surgery day—1,250 attendees received statuettes with exposed elbow ligaments and removable UCLs.
