FACES IN THE CROWD

Meghan Beaubien | Monroe, Mich. | Softball

Meghan, a recent graduate of St. Mary Catholic Central High, fanned 16 in a 13--1 win over Napoleon for the Kestrels' third straight Division 3 state championship. A lefty, she also threw a two-hitter with 15 K's to beat Shepherd 1--0 in the semifinals. Meghan finished 23-1 with an 0.29 ERA and 338 strikeouts in 167 innings. She will pitch at Michigan.

Peter Hale | Swampscott, Mass. | Track and Field

Hale, a recent graduate of Williams, won the 5K at the Division III outdoor championships with a time of 14:15.38. At the NESCAC finals a month earlier he took first in the 1,500 meters (3:50.42) and the 5K (14:51.23). Hale also won the the D-III indoor title in the 3K (8:17.76). A Fulbright scholar, he will teach in Germany.

Isabella Fierro | Ciudad del Carmen, Mexico | Golf

Isabella, a rising junior at the Madison International School in Monterrey, defeated Anna Redding of North Carolina 2 and 1 to win the Women's North & South Amateur at the Pinehurst Country Club. She is the first woman from Mexico to earn the title. Isabella has won six events this year, including the Mexican and South American amateurs.

Joseph Hou | Newport Beach, Calif. | Sailing

Joseph, a rising senior at Newport Harbor High, finished first in the single-handed dinghy laser radial at the U.S. Youth Sailing championships in Corpus Christi, Texas. The victory qualified him for the U.S. youth world championship team in Sanya, China, in December. Joseph was the Chubb U.S. junior single-handed champion in 2016.

Karen Boen | Easton, Mass. | Track and Field

Boen, 59, the men's and women's coach at Stonehill College, led the women's track team to a second-straight sweep of the Northeast-10 titles in the fall, winter and spring. She also guided the women's cross-country team to its eighth straight conference championship. Boen has won 50 NE-10 coach of the year honors in 19 seasons.

Michael and Amber Yuille | Germantown, Md. | Baseball, Softball

Michael, a recent graduate, and his sister Amber, a rising sophomore, pitched Northwest High to Class 4A state titles on consecutive days. Michael struck out eight in six innings in an 8--0 victory over Howard. Amber gave up eight hits in a complete-game, 8--4 win over Sherwood.
