PUPPY BOWL XIV
Feb. 4 at 3 p.m.,on Animal Planet
The adorable annual undercard to the Super Bowl is back for its 14th year, with an expanded field this season of 90 good doggies. (And we're happy to report an end to ageism in canine sports: The Dog Bowl will air the night before at 8 p.m.) Longtime rufferee Dan Schachner explains one way the Puppy Bowl has the NFL beat:
"As highly paid as NFL players are and as much as the Super Bowl's ratings might beat ours, I guarantee you one thing: None of their guys want to cuddle at the end of the game. None of them will sit in your lap and lick your face. I guess I can't speak for every NFL player, but for the most part.... As far as athleticism, the NFL might beat us. In corporate sponsorships, they might even have a leg up. But when it comes to cuddling, snuggling, face-licking? We win hands down."
