Burt and Earn It
Katie Burt first made FACES IN THE CROWD in 2009, as a sixth-grader playing goalie for Lynn English High in Massachusetts. The then 11-year-old had a .955 save percentage for an 11--2 team. Six years later, as a freshman at Boston College, she was in Faces again after stopping a career-high 29 shots in a win over Dartmouth. This January, after a 3--2 victory over Providence, she recorded her 115th career win, the most in NCAA history. Burt, who won the Bertagna Award for top goalie at the Beanpot Tournament, finished her Hockey East career as the conference leader in wins (70) and goals-against average (1.39). BC, ranked third in the nation, is a lock for the NCAA tournament, and with the nation's top two scorers in freshman Daryl Watts and sophomore Caitrin Lonergan, the Eagles have a shot at the one thing Burt doesn't have on her résumé: a national title.
