Angels in the Outfield

Jordyn Adams made FACES IN THE CROWD on Dec. 11, 2017, as a standout receiver who tied a North Carolina state record with three punt returns for touchdowns in a single game, but it's his potential on the diamond as an outfielder that has him in the news again. Adams (near right), who recently graduated from Green Hope High in Cary, N.C., was drafted No. 17 overall by the Angels. So despite committing to North Carolina as a receiver for '18, Adams has now decided to play baseball professionally. He'll join another Faces alum, outfielder Jo Adell (May 29, 2017), the team's first-round pick in '17. Both prospects have brought more optimism to Los Angeles's outfield beyond Mike Trout—Adams hit .453 in his senior season, and the 19-year-old Adell (far right), through 50 games across two levels in the minors, was batting .318 this season.
