Keely Rochard appeared in the Aug. 14, 2017, edition of FACES IN THE CROWD after leading Warhill High in Williamsburg, Va., to its second straight state Class 3A softball championship. She went 26--0 with 364 strikeouts as a senior, batted .333 with 39 RBIs that year and didn't allow a run over two postseasons. Now a sophomore at Virginia Tech, the righthander has maintained her dominance: Last month she threw no-hitters on consecutive days. Rochard started with a five-inning, nine-strikeout no-no to beat Detroit Mercy 13--0. She followed that with a 10--0 victory over Charleston Southern, fanning 13 over seven innings to lead the Hokies to the Wingate by Wyndham Invitational title. Rochard started the season with a 31-inning scoreless streak and has struck out 66 batters in 442/3 innings.
