MARIA FASSI

Fassi, a recent graduate of Arkansas, shot an eight-under 211 over three rounds at Blessings Golf Club in Fayetteville, Ark., to take the Division I title. She was named WGCA player of the year. Fassi turned pro after having a senior-year scoring average of 71.18 and winning the SEC championship.

Mya, a rising senior at Kearsarge Regional High, won four races at the Division III state championships to lead the Cougars to their first title in school history. She took the 800 meters (2:20.90), 1,600 (5:07.78) and 3,200 (11:38.83), and anchored the winning 4 ... 400 relay (4:12.99).

• Clemmons, N.C.

Callie, a recently graduated point guard at West Forsyth High, scored 29 points, including a state-championship-record seven three-pointers, in a 47--36 win over Southeast Raleigh for the 4A title. Her father, Adam, appeared in FACES IN THE CROWD as a quarterback in the Nov. 12, 1990 issue.

KIERA VAN RYK

Van Ryk, a rising third year outside hitter at the University of British Columbia, was named the U Sports female athlete of the year in Canada after leading her team to the national title. She was the tournament MVP. During the regular season Van Ryk led all players in kills (398) and points (489).

OLIVIA CURTIS

• Tennis

• Oklahoma City

Olivia, a recent grad of Christian Heritage Academy, took the 4A doubles championship, her sixth state title across three sports. She won two in basketball and three in volleyball. Twice named the state's Gatorade volleyball player of the year, Olivia will play that sport at Oklahoma.
