Flag Bearer

Wide receiver Emily Kemp was featured in the Aug. 14, 2017, edition of FACES IN THE CROWD after making a 15-yard touchdown catch for Tampa's Robinson High in the Class 1A girls' flag football state championship game. It was her 33rd score of the season, which set a Florida record and also gave her the school mark for receiving yards, with 1,182. Last season, as a junior, she broke her own state mark for TDs by catching passes for 35 and rushing for five more, leading the Knights to an 18--0 finish and their fourth straight title. Kemp still has one more year of high school to go, but she's already thinking about her future. Nearby Florida is a club flag football powerhouse, winning back-to-back national championships in 2017 and '18. (The club's president is also a Robinson alum.) "It's been a really big part of my life," says Kemp. "I grew up loving football, going to Bucs games, so being able to play is really awesome."
